Oh my gosh, I don't even know where to start. I made the mistake of checking the web for piracy of my art, especially on iphone cases and now I am steamed. I don't even know where to start. It is mainly one image that everyone is using
and it appears to be the same exact section of one of my tiles that they are all using. It's as though they were all coming from one source but I have no idea of how to track down the source. Alibaba perhaps?
Every time I find someone using the image on items they are selling, I contact them and ask them to remove it. Sometimes they do but most of the time they don't.
I have found them on Artfire, Etsy, HeyFair, Redbubble, Amazon, Wanelo, ecplaza and more. I also found someone here on dA that has a gallery full of other artist's work, including my image on an iphone cover. This isn't Pinterist.....sigh
Tracking down the thieves is hard enough but it seems useless. For every one that I stop, fifteen more pop up. Good grief. I feel like I have the tip of my pinkie in the dam and the crack is getting wider all of the time.
Even if I had tons of money for the best lawyers, can you sue someone in China?
I have now taken the precaution of downloading only smaller images and watermarking them whenever possible. I also include a blurb in the description of each and everyone of my images here on dA that says that I own the rights to the image and it cannot be used without my permission. I don't know if that helps but at least they cannot feign ignorance.
Okay, enough of my venting......now back to my clay.
