I'm working on a tutorial for ClayLessons.com showing how I create a polymer clay journal cover. Here is an image of the finished raw clay right before curing [link] Now it is cured and I have given it a wash of several coats of acrylic paint. Looks much different now doesn't it?!

You are so talented it's unbelievable!
I've been using polymer clay for about 7 years but I still don't know exactly how to get the kind of finishes and patina's you can :( your work is so intricate and elegant, I really hope you do do a tutorial as I would love some tips :) x

I love the antiqued elements you've added to this (and of course the texture and overall design as well)!

Oh WOW... LOVE this! You work has always been so detailed and beautiful. I guess my only question has always been how do you cure yours. I have tried several times to work with the clay and I bake it as directed and it is still not strong enough and breaks off or in half way too easy to work as a bail for pendants or anything that doesn't just sit and look pretty if you know what I mean. What is your trick?

I found out that properly conditioning the clay is very important. I now run my clay through the pasta machine at least 20 times before I begin using it. Also, different clay brands have different properties; some are stronger that others and work better for jewelry. Here is one helpful article I found :D [link]
Hope this helps!
