About the book I was talking about earlier (if you still remember xD)... I finally got my paws unto it, but sadly it doesn't cover the making of coptic books. But it does have a chapter about Japanese bindings :3 They're even simpler than copts

Yes, Japanese bindings are usually quite simple, just a few holes, that go trough the whole book and the covers stiched together with strong yarn. They are very beautiful ^^ But I kind of feel that your detailed and rich style might not get along with the simple style of japanese books. But you probably could find new, exiting things to try with the books
The main problem with Japanese books is the fact, that the covers must be very bendy and thin so that the book can even be opened. I ruined my only Japanese book just by adding too much glue to the covers, that were made from three different papers D: From this point of view the coptic bindings are more suitable for your style of working (the books that you posted a while ago are so beautiful! Especially the one with the dragons eye was magnificent ^^)
Whew, what a long comment :'D
