Forest Floor Polymer Clay Tile by MandarinMoon Forest Floor Polymer Clay Tile by MandarinMoon
Finally finished this tile....it's been on my work table for months LOL! I love the lacey leaf I found, it was the inspiration for the rest of the tile :D I added an old cabochon I made and a pendant that didn't turn as well as I hoped but looks nice here ha ha. It is blends of gold, bronze, green and brown clay.

It measures 6" square and has a wood base.

WOW. I wish I could make my whole whouse made of tiles like this (not that I'd dare step on them or something - I'd have to learn how to fly)

For the metallic pieces do you use paint or can you find metallic clay? I'm a complete newbie with polymer clay and was told at the hobby store that I needed to paint gold, silver and bronze. I found that some of my metallic eye-shadows gave a prettier result than the acrylic paint. Maybe the paint I used where just bad quality. What do you use?
This tile is fantastic.

They do make metallic clay but it is not a real bright shiny metallic. Your eyeshadows are very similar to the powdered pigments that I use. A silver or gold powdered pigment brushed on raw black clay and then cured is about as shiny metallic as you can get!

Is it Mecca powder? I compared my best painted polymer clay piece with one where I used silver eye-shadow and the latter looked much better. I know there's mecca powder in some eye-shadows.
I love your use of metallic, jewellery, glass and texture.

Yes! Just like mica powders...they may be one in the same but I'm not sure. :D

Mica sounds more like it. My google insisted on Mecca and I got up some links saying Mecca was used in make-up...um..maybe my dictionary has gone wild.

LOL! I was searching for mecca powder on google and all it gave me was some sort of supplement at health food stores!

My firefox searh engine seems to be set on Norwegian language or something, it mess up a lot when I search for non-Norwegian words and pages.

It is polymer clay on a piece of hardboard with bits of things added here and there. Polymer clay is really easy to work with and you cure it in the oven. Give it a try! :D
