A little paper book box (looks like a book but is really a box) that I decorated with polymer clay. Nearly all of the color comes from blends of clay. The only paint I used was a black wash of acrylic (kind of like adding grout to a mosaic) and the center gold area is metallic paint on the black clay.
This was an idea that came to me as I was drifting off to sleep one night.
I think I should have called this 'Lotta Dots' LOL! It was really just an abstract design and about two thirds of the way into it I saw what looked to me like a peacock in there and the colors were right so.....the name was born. :D

Out of curiousity, I've been thinking about playing with polymer clay. Does it weigh the box down much?

No, not really. Polymer clay is fairly lightweight. Some of my journals and boxes do get heavy, but that is mostly from the glass and other 'stuff' I add to the design. :D

Very pretty - it does look like a book allright :D
I wonder if trying to decorate a real book/artblock cover
with a hard paper cover would work with that ^^

Realy pretty, like the way you added so many different colors and that single blue gem : D

Thanks! Yes, you could easily do the very same thing on the cover of a hardbound book. I have done that many times. :D
